Privacy SupplementGeneral Privacy Policy
The general Privacy Policy applies to the Gazette in full. The Gazette has no accounts, no contact form and no submission channel, and it collects nothing beyond the ordinary technical information created when a page is requested. One matter, however, is distinctive to the Gazette.
Publication of Personal Data as an Act of State
The Gazette publishes instruments that name individuals: grants and cancellations of honours, appointments and commissions, decrees of nationality, and the public censure of a conviction where the law requires it. Where an instrument names a person, the name and the facts stated in the instrument are published because publication is the act by which the instrument takes effect. The Gazette does not redact, paraphrase, abridge or summarise the text laid before it.
This processing rests on legal obligation and on the performance of a public function, not on consent. Consent is not sought, and cannot be withdrawn.
No Erasure and No Takedown
An instrument published in the Gazette forms part of the permanent record of the State. The ordinary right of erasure does not apply to personal data contained in a published instrument, which is preserved on the grounds of legal obligation and archival purpose.
A request to remove, unpublish, de-index or anonymise a published instrument will be refused, and the passage of time does not alter that position.
Where an instrument contains a factual error, the remedy is a corrigendum issued by the competent authority and itself published in the Gazette. A corrigendum corrects the record; it does not delete it. The original publication is preserved alongside the corrigendum, so that the history of the record remains intact.

Nature and Legal Effect
The Royal Kaharagian Gazette is the official journal of record of the State of the Kaharagians, kept by the Royal Chancellery. It is not a news service. Where the law requires an instrument to be promulgated in the Gazette, publication in the Gazette is the act by which that instrument acquires the force of law.
Authentic Text
The text of an instrument as it appears in the Gazette is the authentic text. Where any other publication, reproduction, summary, translation, consolidation or database differs from the Gazette, whether on an official Kaharagian service or elsewhere, the Gazette prevails.
Citation for any legal purpose should be to the Gazette, by issue and instrument number, and not to a reproduction of it.
Permanence and Corrigenda
The Gazette does not withdraw, delete or amend what it has published. An error is corrected by a corrigendum or by a later instrument, both of which are themselves published, and the original text is retained beside the correction.
The Gazette may be re-set, re-paginated or presented in a new visual form. A change of presentation does not alter the substantive text or its authority.
Prohibited Conduct Particular to the Gazette
In addition to the conduct prohibited by the general Terms of Service, a person must not:
- alter the text of an instrument and hold the result out as a Gazette text;
- fabricate an instrument, an issue, a supplement, or an instrument number;
- use the masthead, seal, typography or issue format of the Gazette to present material that is not in fact published in the Gazette; or
- state or imply that a matter has been gazetted when it has not.
These acts may constitute an offence under the Criminal Code.
Re-use
The Gazette is Crown Copyright, and its re-use is governed by the Crown Copyright and Re-use Policy. Accurate quotation and citation of a gazetted instrument are permitted. Bulk extraction of the archive, and its compilation into a dataset or corpus, require the prior written permission of the Royal Chancellery.
